Heather Locklear shares upbeat post on Instagram months after her arrest

Heather Locklear is back on social media as the actress continues to battle legal and personal problems.

The “Melrose Place” alum took to Instagram Saturday with a snapshot of her beloved Maltese dog, Mister, who has dominated her page. 

“Sun shining day,” Locklear, 56, captioned her first post in more than four months.

It's not clear when the photo of her sunglasses-wearing dog was taken, but it appears to be a bright spot in an otherwise rough year for Locklear.  

In February, she was arrested after officers found visible evidence that she had battered her former boyfriend during a confrontation. The actress was "kicking" and "pushing" officers, Ventura County Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt. Garo Kuredjian told the Associated Press. 

Locklear was arrested again in June after authorities responded to a disturbance at her home in Thousand Oaks, California. Locklear was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery against an officer and emergency personnel after they said she grew combative.

TMZ and E! reported that the actress checked into rehab for substance abuse and mental health after the incident. 

Locklear is set to return court on Aug. 30.
