49ers 53-man roster and depth chart projection: Post-minicamp edition

The 49ers concluded their offseason program on Wednesday and spent Thursday hosting a barbecue for players and families before their extended break. Players aren’t due back at the team’s Santa Clara facility for roughly six weeks with the first practice of training camp tentatively scheduled for July 26.

Let’s take a stab at a 53-man roster and depth chart projections for 2018 following this week’s mandatory minicamp. (* Denotes rookies)

-Nick Mullins has gotten better as the third string quarterback. But, barring injury, there’s little need to keep three on the 53-man roster.

Running back (3)

Jerick McKinnon
Matt Breida
Raheem Mostert

-The glaring omission here is Joe Williams, who has struggled to emerge in his first full offseason as a pro. He’s been entrenched with the third-team offense behind these three which doesn’t bode well for chances at cracking the roster. He’ll need a big camp and preseason to change his status. Perhaps time on the practice squad will help his development. He still has promising physical traits.
