Former Miami Heat forward Luol Deng and the Los Angeles Lakers have agreed on a four-year, $72 million contract, according to a person familiar with the agreement. The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because contracts can't be signed until July 7.

Deng, 31, spent the past two seasons on the Miami Heat. Before that, a brief stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and 10 seasons with the Chicago Bulls, where he made a name for himself as one of the league's top perimeter defenders.

He's lost a couple of steps over the past few years, but he was a valuable asset for Miami last season, and figures to be just that with the post-Kobe Bryant Lakers.

The Vertical and ESPN first reported the agreement.
