Python in home toilet bites man’s genitals

A 9-foot long python attacked a Thai man while he was using his home toilet Wednesday, The Associated Press reports.

Attaporn Boonmakchuay, 38, was using his squat toilet when the snake, who slithered through the plumbing, latched onto his penis. He told Thai TV Channel 7 it took 30 minutes to get the snake off, with help from his wife and neighbor. His wife tied a rope around the snake and Boonmakchuay opened its jaws before passing out.

Emergency responders dismantled the bloody toilet and released the snake into the wild.

Boonmakchuay will make a full recovery. Dr. Chutima Pincharoen, who saw the wound, said he was lucky — if the bite would have broken his urinary tract, "it would have been a big problem."

Large snakes are common in urban areas of Thailand, according to Sky News.
