Nielsens: Super Bowl, 'People vs. O.J. Simpson'
Still super. CBS' Super Bowl 50 claimed a big 111.9 million viewers Sunday, its third-best tally though down from last year's record 114.4 million and 2014's 112.2 million. A special Late Show With Stephen Colbert, following the game, nabbed 21.1 million.
Fact-based drama. The opener of FX's The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story drew 5.1 million same-day viewers (and 12.1 million, an FX premiere record, when repeat and delayed viewing is factored in). And ABC's two-part Madoff, about Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff, averaged 6.9 million Wednesday and Thursday.
Odds and ends. ABC's New Hampshire GOP debate (13.3 million viewers Saturday) rebounded from recent faceoffs. HBO's animated Animals opened with 239,000 in late-night Friday. And ABC's The Muppets (a series-low 2.8 million Tuesday) and Fox's Sleepy Hollow (3.1 million Friday) returned in new time slots.
