Live stream 360 video

LOS ANGELES - The concept of recording 360 degree virtual reality video has been a huge buzzword this year. Now you can go beyond just showing recorded 360 clips on YouTube and Facebook with live 360 streaming.

The camera manufacturer 360Fly has teamed up with the mobile app Liveit to offer free live video 360 streaming.

First you’ll need to buy the small, round-shaped 360Fly camera for $399, pair it with your Apple smartphone or tablet, open the Livit app, and you’re good to go.

The Liviti app shows 360 live streaming.

“In an interview like this,” said Matt Gordon from 360fly, in a visit to the USA TODAY studios here, “People could focus on us, or on what’s happening backstage. It’s a full 360 degree look at us.”

There are several 360 cameras available right now, including models from Kodak and Ricoh, but as of now, only 360fly has the ability to live stream. The company plans to release a new VR camera, one with 4K video recording, in the spring.
