A hero in Boston shoveled the snow off of the Boston Marathon finish line

A photographer who tweeted that he was staying at the Charlesmark Hotel in Boston looked out his window to see an important stretch of pavement being shoveled during the snowstorm that hit the city: the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

On Twitter, users began a search with the hashtag #whoshoveledthefinishline to find the heroic shovel-er with offers to buy him a beer — or just offer their thanks.

Mark Hagopian, the owner of the hotel, said that the man was a marathon enthusiast wearing an Ironman T-shirt who came with his own shovel and a friend to take a picture at the finish line — perhaps for motivation.

“I’m not surprised, it’s the oldest marathon in the world,” he told For The Win. “People take their picture with that finish line every single day.”

Update: A Boston bar claims that it was their bartender who cleared the finish line. He was not immediately available for comment.
