Timberwolves wear pink laces to honor Thaddeus Young's late mother

Minnesota’s Thaddeus Young returned to the Timberwolves this week after missing five games on bereavement leave following the death of his mother, Lula Hall. On Wednesday night, the Wolves honored Young’s mother, who lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 57. The NBA allowed every player to wear pink laces in tribute to Lula.

In a statement released by the Timberwolves, Young thanked his teammates and urged women to get regular checkups at the doctor.

“I want to take this opportunity to remind my NBA brothers, colleagues and fans of the importance of regular breast exams and mammograms. Please encourage the woman in your lives – the mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, aunts and girlfriends – to get screened for breast cancer.”
