Obama's day: A turkey pardoning
President Obama engages Wednesday in some traditional Thanksgiving Eve activities: turkey pardoning and volunteer service.
The annual turkey pardoning takes place at 2:15 p.m. on the North Portico of the White House.
"The President will celebrate the 67th anniversary of the National Thanksgiving Turkey presentation, reflect upon the time-honored traditions of Thanksgiving, and wish American families a safe and healthy holiday," says the White House schedule.
Both the lucky National Thanksgiving Turkey and its alternate were hatched and raised near Fort Recovery, Ohio, the White House says.
Later in the afternoon, Obama and his family participate in a service event at a yet-to-be-announced charity, possibly a local food bank.
