The future of 'Honey Boo Boo' is in jeopardy

Things seem to be snowballing for the Thompson family.

And not in a good snowballing kind of way.

Last month, Mama June Shannon and her sweetie Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson, parents of Alana - Honey Boo Boo - Thompson, announced they were separating.

Today, TMZ is reporting that June has moved on to an ex-con. She was photographed in a hotel room with Mark McDaniel, who was convicted in 2004 for aggravated child molestation. The site reports that the victim was one of June's relatives. He got out of prison in March, says TMZ, after serving 10 years.

UPDATE, 10/24: Mama June posted a note on daughter Alana's Facebook page denying the report that she is dating McDaniel. She wrote:

"Ppl sell stories to the tabloid everyday that r false! It isnt true i promise my kids r #1 priority over anything else and I would never put them in danger period over this or anything else they r my life this is my past I left him 10 yrs ago for it and I wouldn't go back"

TLC is taking the story seriously, and now the future of the show is in jeopardy.

"TLC is not currently in production on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," TLC said in a statement to USA TODAY. "We are very concerned about this new information and are reassessing the future of the series."
