Flames coach Bob Hartley fined $50,000
NEW YORK (AP) — Calgary coach Bob Hartley was fined $50,000 by the NHL on Saturday over his responsibility for a brawl late in the Flames' 4-1 loss in Vancouver on Friday night.
The brawl resulted in 132 minutes in penalties, including six game misconducts — three of which went to Calgary's Deryk Engelland.
The NHL also said the game misconduct assessed to Engelland for instigating a fight in the last 5 minutes of regulation has been rescinded.
The first-round series is tied 1-1. Game 3 is Sunday night in Calgary.
Hartley had been $25,000 last season for his opening lineup choices during a January 2014 game against the Canucks that led to a line brawl. John Tortorella, the Canucks coach at the game, was suspended for trying to enter the Flames hallway to challenge Hartley.
