Celeb superlatives: Fond farewells, 'Crazy' carols

Actress Jennifer Lopez arrives at The PEOPLE Magazine Awards.

We dig through the latest celebrity news, giving thumbs-up or eye rolls to those who earned them. Think high school yearbook superlatives — if Stephen Colbert and Jennifer Lopez were classmates.

Best jumpsuit: Jennifer Lopez

J.Lo can be hit or miss on the red carpet sometimes, but at the People Magazine awards she was definitely a hit. The star rocked a sparkly nude Naeem Khan jumpsuit with quite the plunging neckline, and she looked absolutely amazing in it. Add that to her casual flowing locks, dark eyes and nude lips, and we know we're going to be seeing great things from J.Lo this awards season.

'Freakiest' debut: Neil Patrick Harris

Future Oscar host Neil Patrick Harris will be stopping by American Horror Story: Freak Show when it returns in January. The actor, and real-life magician, will be playing a shady magic man visiting the other freaks. The first promo for Harris' debut (and the second half of the Freak Show season) hit the Web and shows the Tony and Emmy-winner is in fine form. Just don't ever let him do the saw-you-in-half trick; things could get a little… messy.

Smartest choice for sexy: Kate Upton

First Chris Hemsworth grabbed the coveted title of People magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive,' and now the 'Sexiest Woman Alive' has been chosen. The mag crowned Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton, 22. Eric Dane presented Upton with her award, saying, "There are a lot of reasons why Kate is sexy. Style, career, achievements, sense of humor, personality —oh and did I mention her … looks?" But Upton herself had a different take on the whole thing. She said, in a People tweet, "Sexy to me means someone who is confident and happy and that's the person I always strive to be." We can definitely get behind that!

Most bittersweet farewell: Stephen Colbert

Nation, that's it. In a star-studded finale Stephen Colbert gave his last hurrah as the host of Comedy Central's Colbert Report. "I know this is an emotional night for a lot of you," he said during the opening of the final episode, which was pretty business as usual until the ending. With some help from a slew of amous friends, including Jon Stewart, Willie Nelson, Tom Brokaw, Cyndi Lauper, Bryan Cranston, Big Bird, Jeff Daniels, Katie Couric, Ken Burns, Charlie Rose, James Franco, Michael Stipe, Barry Manilow, Christiane Amanpour, Andy Cohen, and George Lucas, Colbert performed the 1939 tune We'll Meet Again. And it won't be long: he takes over for David Letterman on CBS in September.

Best rendition of 12 Days of Christmas: The ladies of Orange is the New Black

The ladies of Orange is the New Black came together to offer a little holiday treat to their fans. The actresses, including Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Uzo Aduba and more, sang The 12 Days of Christmas, in character swapping out the merry holiday lyrics with things like smoking, cutting, snitching and more. While it's maybe not the Christmas carol you're used to, it's always nice to hear from Crazy Eyes.

Best throwback to a Tom Hanks movie: Nick Jonas

Remember that scene in Big where Tom Hanks plays Heart and Soul on the big floor piano? Well now Nick Jonas is getting in on the action. The singer stopped by FAO Schwartz toy store in New York to play his hit song Jealous on the Big piano, with some help from his entourage. Jonas posted a video of the performance to Facebook, saying "I stopped by FAO Schwarz in NYC and had to pay homage to the man Tom Hanks..." Not sure if Jealous has quite the same tone as Heart and Soul, but we get where you're going with this.
