Netflix drops Cosby special

Netflix is the latest to bail on comedian Bill Cosby.

In an extremely brief statement, the streaming service late Tuesday said "at this time, we are postponing the launch of the new stand-up comedy special Bill Cosby 77," scheduled to be released on Nov. 28.

The decision marks the latest fallout from the scandal, as the embattled comedian, facing sexual-abuse allegations by more than a dozen women in incidents decades ago, has suffered a PR backlash and the beginnings of a business fallout.

Though Cosby continues to tour, and is scheduled to perform in Florida this week, a Wednesday appearance on CBS' Late Show with David Letterman was canceled, and NBC is unlikely to proceed with a family sitcom in the early stages of development for next season, though the network has declined to comment.

Cosby has refused to address the controversy.

The Netflix special, commemorating Cosby's 77th birthday, is the latest in a series of stand-up routines on Netflix, which wouldn't elaborate on its statement.
