Ford F-150 named 'Truck of Texas'

Ford's aluminum-bodied 2015 F-150 pickup was named Truck of Texas

No surprise here: The new Ford F-150 was named the official Truck of Texas by the Texas Auto Writers Association.

Though it may sound like an obscure honor, trucks brands spare no effort in trying to pick up awards every year in the contest. Reason: Because Texans buy a lot of pickups and other kinds of trucks. The "Truck of Texas" is the top award among all vehicle categories in competition.

The 2015 Ford F-150 is all new and incorporates a breakthrough: a mass-market, aluminum-bodied pickup. It saves hundreds of pounds of weight for increased fuel economy.

"This is a significant honor," says Doug Scott, marketing manager of Ford's truck group, in a statement. "Our entire truck team is proud and honored to win the Truck of Texas trophy."
