Colts TE on deflategate: 'They could have played with soap for balls and beat us'

As we’ve now reached peak hysteria (one would hope) in regards to deflategate, one Colts player isn’t buying into the madness.

Colts tight end Dwayne Allen went on Twitter and played down the story, saying the better team won the game, deflated balls or not.

Allen is, of course, totally correct. The Patriots dominated the Colts from beginning to end, and a lot of their dominance was in the running game, so whether the balls were over- or under-inflated really wouldn’t matter. The Colts weren’t winning that game.

To play devil’s advocate, though, the fact that the Patriots were better makes it all the more dumb that they’d feel the need to cheat.

What I think we can all agree on is that this whole story is ridiculous and we will remember it as dumb. Sports!
