Exclusive: Hardwell spooks up Halloween playlist

Hardwell performs during Ultra Music Festival at Bayfront Park Amphitheater on March 30, 2014 in Miami.

The motto of this Halloween: Go Hardwell or go home.

Whether you're carving out pumpkins or party plans, the popular Dutch DJ has scared together the quintessential playlist for your fright night. The Songza compilation, called "Hardwell's Halloween Dance Party" and premiering on usatoday.com, includes tracks from EDM all-stars such as Tiësto, Calvin Harris and Knife Party, as well as good friends Dyro, Dannic and Jordy Dazz.

"Most of these guys are friends of mine," says the artist, whose real name is Robbert van de Corput. "The electronic music world is such a tight-knit community. We're all hanging out at different festivals and such."

Hardwell, recently named No. 1 DJ on DJMag's Top 100 list for a second year, will be spending his Halloween in Chicago as he embarks on the last leg of his I Am Hardwell North American tour. But he's already making plans for his world tour next year in support of new album United We Are, also due in early 2015 and delving into other dance genres such as hardstyle and trance.

"I've been exploring new boundaries and working on new styles as well, but really just being myself," he says. "I've been evolving my sound and trying to do things a bit different this time around, but fans can still expect to hear the signature Hardwell sound."

There are a "bunch of really cool collaborations" on the way, he assures, but for now, trick-or-treat yourself to his Halloween playlist.
