The hunger for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1 grows ever more intense.

The movie doesn't open for another month but is already wowing advance ticket sellers.

Fandango and Movieticketsreport that advance tickets went on sale starting Wednesday and already Mockingjay sold more first-day tickets than any other 2014 film.

The second-to-last installment in the Hunger Games franchise, which opens Nov. 21, accounted for 80% of Fandango's daily ticket sales just on the first day.

The box-office tracking on Thursday showed such huge numbers that it appears as if the movie could match the $158.2 million North American debut of sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire a year ago, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Hollywood is thrilled. So far, 2014 has not been a stunner when it comes to record-breaking openings: The current record-holder is Transformers: Age of Extinction at $100 million.

Anticipation has been building along with the marketing, in which teasers, trailers, posters and other treats have been doled out weekly to click-hungry media.
