Robin Williams, World Cup top Google search in 2014
The death of Robin Williams and this year's World Cup in Brazil were the most popular searches in the U.S. on Google in 2014, the company revealed Tuesday.
Williams topped Google searches in the U.S. following his death in August. The actor finished atop Google's 2014 search results globally.
Ebola was the third most popular search term in the U.S., followed by Malaysia Airlines (tied to the hunt for a missing passenger jet) and the mobile game Flappy Bird. A look at the top 10 search terms in the U.S.:

Smartphones dominated the most popular searches in Tech, headlined by Apple's iPhone 6, which launched earlier this year. Samsung Galaxy s5 and Nexus 6 round out the top three. Overall, half of the top 10 Tech searches in the U.S. were for smartphones:

In video games, Activision's first-person shooter Destiny was the most searched video game, followed by fellow shooter Titanfall and action game Watch Dogs.
