The Good Wife's Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) meets one of her heroes, feminist icon Gloria Steinem, on Sunday's episode of the CBS drama (9:30 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT).

These exclusive photos show them talking at a Chicago fundraising event. In the cameo appearance, Steinem, a writer and activist who co-founded Ms. magazine, encourages top-notch lawyer Florrick to run for state's attorney, a move the latter has been resisting.

"We knew we needed someone Alicia respected more than anyone, a name she would almost genuflect in front of," executive producer Robert King says.

"Someone who was special, who would have resonance for her," executive producer Michelle King adds.

Florrick is taken aback by meeting a role model, with whom she also engages in an imagined conversation in her mind.

"What the show wants to do with it is turn it comically," Robert King says. "The show is often called feminist, but … there is sort of a feminist satire going on in it, too. So, it's really great that (Steinem) came to play. I think when you see the episode, you'll see there's some comedy about how she's involved with it, too."

Margulies was wowed by Steinem's presence, as she explained during a recent appearance on Live! With Kelly and Michael.

"I made a fool of myself and then had to e-mail her and had to apologize," she told the hosts, adding that Steinem displayed a detailed knowledge of The Good Wife.

Last week, another real person, presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett, also made an appearance to push Florrick toward running. Viewers will know whether she's going to seek the state's attorney post by the end of Sunday's episode, Robert King says.

The Good Wife has intersected with real-world figures in the past, with guest visits by such people as Democratic strategist Donna Brazile, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his successor, Bill DeBlasio.

The cameos have "been smooth creatively. Every single time they come to set they've been incredibly professional," Michelle King says. "The only difficulty, sometimes, is scheduling. They have real lives and real schedules."
