LOS ANGELES — No age group lives on apps more than teens do.

And since smartphone apps do just about everything these days — from unlocking our cars to telling us how many steps we've walked — what if they could also control human behavior?

We met up with teen megastar Zendaya, 17, best known for her roles on the Disney Channel and a stint on Dancing with the Stars, to explore the notion.

Zendaya Coleman stars in a new Disney Channel movie, Zapped, making its debut Friday, about a girl with a secret app that can control boys.

THE APP IN ZAPPED

"It makes boys do yoga, pluck their eyebrows and do weird stuff. I can literally get them to do whatever I want."

IF SHE COULD HAVE ANY APP IN REAL LIFE

"I would have an app that would teleport me places. It would clear up pollution, traffic, we could get to places easier; that would be awesome. It would make my life a lot easier, and I'd get a lot more done."

THE SELFIE QUEEN

With nearly 14 million followers on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, Zendaya feeds her audience endless photos. She calls herself "The Selfie Queen" because "being a teenage girl, I love selfies."

"I post pictures of my nails, because that's my thing, my outfits, whatever I'm doing that day. Like most people my age, I will take 50 pictures, delete them all, find the one I like, then stare at it for 80 billion hours. It's fun, it's like your own personal photo shoot."

ONLINE SHOUTS

She uses the website ShoutOmatic to deliver audio messages to fans, which she posts on social media and her Zendaya.com website. "It's another way to connect with my fans, and let them know I'm a regular kid."

FAVORITE APPS

• GoPro. (free; Apple, Android, Windows Phone) The app for the wearable camera with the ultra-wide-angle view connects directly to her iPhone, which can be used to compose and snap the shutter. With the app, "I can take way-cooler selfies, and get way more people in them."

• Unblock Me (free; Apple, Android.) The puzzle game is "one of those brain games I can play for hours."

• PicFrame (99 cents; Apple, Android.) For putting smartphone images into framed collages.
