Nobody rents more romantic movies from Redbox kiosks than Green Bay, according to a survey from self-service DVD rental company, which proclaimed it the “most romantic city” in the nation. “The Notebook,” starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, came in as the top romantic movie of all time in the survey.

GREEN BAY — Something tells us this might come as a shock to the rest of the country, but Green Bay is the "most romantic city" in the nation.

So says Redbox, whose research shows residents in Green Bay watched more romantic movies in 2014 than any other city, based on the titles rented across the company's 35,000 self-service DVD kiosks. Wisconsin was ranked as the second most romantic state, behind Michigan.

Theories, anyone? Is it the big, cheesy hearts? What the Green Bay Packers have taught folks about unwavering love? The long winters?

The rest of the top 10 most romantic cities, according to the survey: Evansville, Ind. (No. 2); Lansing, Mich. (3); Mankato, Minn. (4); Zanesville, Ohio; (5), Ames, Iowa (6); Rochester, Minn. (7); Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo, Mich. (8); Toledo, Ohio (9); and Lima, Ohio (10).

Apparently a love for romantic movies is a whole Midwest thing. Iowa, South Dakota, Indiana and Ohio all made the list of the Top 10 most romantic states.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in "Titanic." What's your vote for most romantic movie?

The survey, which polled 8,700 Redbox users nationwide, also revealed that The Notebook came in as the most romantic movie of all time, followed by Titanic and Pretty Woman.

Channing Tatum was the actor the most people would like to be their valentine, and Jennifer Lawrence took the actress honors. Adults age 45 and older, however, were partial to Matthew McConaughey.

In case you're wondering where all the cold-hearted cynics are, that would be Oregon, which was less likely to rent romantic movies than any other state. Midland, Texas, gets "least romantic city" bragging rights.
