Undrafted, under-sized Marty St. Louis moved two points closer to the career 1,000-point mark in spectacular fashion Sunday night.

First, he fed a no-look backhand pass halfway across the ice – through Montreal Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov’s legs and under P.A. Parenteau’s stick – right onto the tape of a trailing Derek Stepan’s stick for the Rangers’ second goal of the game.

Then he managed to make two players look bad on the same play as he stole the puck from Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin and roofed a shot past goalie Dustin Tokarski to make it 3-0 on the way to a 5-0 victory.

That gives St. Louis 998 career points. He has a chance to hit the milestone on Wednesday night in Tampa Bay, where he won the 2004 Stanley Cup.

It will be his first appearance in that city since he demanded a trade last season.
