Don Lemon faced online backlash for comments about marijuana in Ferguson.

CNN anchor Don Lemon is getting backlash online for a peculiarly placed "obviously" during his Ferguson broadcast.

While describing the scene across the street from the Ferguson Police Department, Lemon was asked by Anderson Cooper to share the sights, sounds and, apparently, smells of the escalating protests.

"Just a couple seconds ago, we heard a gunshot," he explains of the scene, which was filmed live after prosecutor Robert McCulloch announced that officer Darren Wilson would not be indicted for the fatal shooting of Michael Brown.

"People started running this way and there are a couple police officers in the crowd," he continues.

"Obviously, there's a smell of marijuana in the air, as well," he adds, before going back to the news about gunshots.

Later on, a protester camera-bombed Lemon's stand-up to offer a choice word about CNN.
