Friday's forecast: Endless rain for Northwest

Doyle Rice
USA TODAY

Three of the four corners of the nation will see soggy conditions Friday while the rest of the country enjoys mostly mild, dry weather.

Northwest: The drenching continues in the sodden Pacific Northwest, northern Great Basin and parts of Northern California on Friday. Chilly temperatures in the 40s and 50s will add to the dreariness. Snow is possible in the mountains.

South Florida: Rain and thunderstorms will roll across far southern Florida, mainly over the Keys.

Northeast: Clouds and showers should pester portions of the Northeast and New England on Friday before finally moving out later in the day.

Weather history for Oct. 24: In 1911, a World Series game between the Philadelphia A's and the New York Giants was finally
played after six days of rain, the longest delay in Series history. In 1969, the temperature dropped to 29 degrees in Washington, D.C.

In 2005, Hurricane Wilma made landfall in southern Florida. Wilma directly was attributed to 5 deaths in Florida, knocked power out to 98% of South Florida and produced an estimated $12.2 billion in damage.
