Danger! New service lets you shop Instagram

A new service is turning Instagram into an instant shopping opportunity.

It's called Like2Buy. So far Nordstrom, Target, Saks, and Charlotte Russe are using the service and are linking to their Like2Buy pages from Instagram. The site looks and operates like Instagram, displaying the same square photos. But when you like or click on an image, you'll automatically be taken to the product page for that image on the retailer's website.

Nordstrom hopes the experience will help with many of the questions it gets from its Instagram followers, who often comment on photos asking where they can find a certain item or how much it costs.

Nordstrom's Bryan Galipeau, director of social media, told Bloomberg Businessweek: "This is the first experience of its kind. And it's the closest thing out there — that I'm aware of — in terms of delivering a seamless shopping experience."

The service doesn't quite seamlessly integrate with Instagram though, at least yet. You have to do your liking and clicking through a separate Like2Buy site in order to shop the photos.
