Must-see trailers: '12 Shades of Midnight,' 'Stare Her Down,' 'Experiment in Terror'

"Twelve Shades of Midnight" boxed set.

Friends,

Are you ready for Halloween? My neighbors and I are playing a drinking game as we hand out candy — a shot for every Elsa costume that hits our porch. It's probably going to be a fun night! I have recently re-discovered audiobooks and I am indulging in a little bit of re-reading of my favorite series as I ride around in my car or do the dishes. The book lighting up my ears is the Cut & Run series by Abigail Roux — audio gold!

I think groups of authors are putting together clever trailers to showcase all of their books. The one for Twelve Shades of Midnight highlights 12 stories all surrounding the mischief and romance that come with the witching hour. The music pulls the entire thing together with its sweeping, epic, paranormal-esque score. The colors, sexiness and mood of the images draw you into the stories and tempt you to stay up past the stroke of midnight.

If you read this column, you know I'm a sucker for a great soundtrack, and the trailer for Stare Her Down by Riley Murphy has a really cool original song in the background. It perfectly sets the mood for a sensual, moody, emotional book about a woman and the Dom she falls for. Love it!

Are you looking for a little romantic suspense? The video for Experiment in Terror by Alene Anderson sets it up perfectly. Gritty images, a script that takes you through a kidnapping and a heroine trapped in a cave — all wrapped up in a soundtrack that is seriously creepy. Great one!
