Baylor to announce decisions by June 3 in wake of sex assault investigation

Baylor University expects to have an announcement by June 3 regarding the findings of an investigation by the Pepper Hamilton law firm into the school's handling of sexual assault complaints, according to a statement Tuesday from spokesperson Lori Fogleman.

Baylor President Ken Starr.

The statement came in response to a published report that school president and chancellor Ken Starr had been fired.

"The Baylor Board of Regents continues its work to review the findings of the Pepper Hamilton investigation and we anticipate further communication will come after the board completes its deliberations," the statement read. "We will not respond to rumors, speculation or reports based on unnamed sources, but when official news is available, the University will provide it."

Mounting allegations raise more questions about Baylor

The regents have only received a preliminary review of the report. It's unclear whether the report will be made public, as Baylor's status as a private school shields it from Freedom of Information Act requests.

The status of Starr, football coach Art Briles and athletics director Ian McCaw could all hang in the balance based on the report and how the regents choose to respond to a scandal that has gained significant national attention as allegations against several former Baylor football players have come to light.
