For the first time in seven years, the U.S. is not the world’s No. 1 team in women’s soccer.

FIFA announced this year’s final Women’s World Rankings on Friday, and it was Germany that came out on top. The Germans earned this spot after recent victories over Sweden and England, while the Americans lost to Brazil and tied China during the current 2014 International Tournament of Brasilia. They beat Argentina 7-0 on Thursday, and will face Brazil again in the final on Sunday.

The rankings are based off of 170 matches and the next set will be released on March 27, 2015, so a couple months before the World Cup begins on June 6.

The Americans are playing around with their lineup in preparation for next summer’s tournament. The team has lots of depth and coach Jill Ellis is still figuring out who the best mixture of players will be for Canada. Additionally, star forward Alex Morgan remains out rehabbing an ankle injury she sustained during World Cup qualifying.

The U.S. drew the group of death for next summer’s tournament, and will have to play Australia, Sweden and Nigeria in Group D, the toughest schedule in group play. Germany has a lighter load in Group B with games against the Ivory Coast, Norway and Thailand.

The U.S., Germany and defending champion Japan are among the favorites to win. The Americans are trying to win their first World Cup since 1999.
