103-year-old Japanese sprinter Hidekichi Miyazaki ran a 38.35-second 100-meter-dash in Kyoto, and then issued a challenge to the fastest man on Earth. Miyazaki, who started running at the age of 92, is the fastest centenarian in the world, and his nickname is the “Golden Bolt.”

Via The Straits Times:

“I’d love to race Bolt…. I’m keeping the dream alive. I try to stay in top shape and stay disciplined and healthy. That’s important for everyone – even Usain Bolt.”

Miyazaki holds the 100-meter world record for runners over the age of 100 at 29.83 seconds.

Bolt, meanwhile, holds the overall 100-meter world record at 9.58 seconds — so Miyazaki might need a bit of a head start.
