Quick thinking by 4-year-old Camden Vaughan is being credited with possibly saving the life of his mother, Misty Vaughan.

DALLAS — Camden Vaughan is sick of being in the hospital room with his mom. He's ready to go home.

"He's all boy, and he's all active," said Misty Vaughan.

If not for the 4-year-old, his mom may not be alive.

Misty Vaughan thought she had the flu. Her fever kept rising.

"It was reading 105 on my thermometer, and that's the last thing I remember," she said.

Then she passed out.

Camden found her Sunday night. And he used her cellphone to call Dr. Jeremy Vaughan — his own father.

"He said, 'Daddy I need you to come home! Mommy can't get in the bath because she can't wake up,' " Jeremy Vaughan said of his son's call. "And I said: 'I'm on my way!' "

When Misty Vaughan passed out Sunday, April 3, 2016, her son Camden, 4, unlocked her iPhone, found his father's picture at top of the list and called him for help.

At 4, Camden was able to unlock his mom's iPhone. He found his dad's photo at the top of the favorites list.

"And tap the phone button, and the star, and hit the picture," Camden explained.

Misty Vaughan's doctor believes she had a seizure. He also believes Camden's phone call was crucial.

"It saved her life ... as simple as that," said Dr, Ousama Moammar, of Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas. "Acting early and fast is really of the essence."

The mother of two is still trying to process all that happened.

"If my brain had continued at that temperature, I could not be the same here ... the same or not be here at all for them," she said.

Misty Vaughan is feeling better and should be back at home soon.

"I feel like my trust in his responsibility has definitely increased," she said.
