100-pound gymnast conquers obstacle course in surprisingly thrilling sports moment

In this video, Kacy Catanzaro, a former gymnast from Towson University, becomes the first woman ever to successfully complete the finals course on the show American Ninja Warrior.

It is also, and I say this unironically, the most randomly thrilling video I have seen this year.

I had no idea what American Ninja Warrior was entering this video, but apparently it’s a show that’s big in Japan and here, and the hook is that fitness bros try to complete an all-but-impossible obstacle course.

So yeah, upon entering the video, I had no idea what was going on. Quite quickly, though, the announcers informed me that no woman has ever completed the course, and at 5-feet-tall and 100 pounds, Catanzaro basically had no physical chance of doing it.

Then she did it. I started watching this video passively, and at the end of the video I was on my feet, screaming, imploring Catanzaro to make the “finals,” which I don’t even know what that means, but it doesn’t matter, because she HAD TO MAKE THEM.

Watch the video. It’s basically Rudy with screaming Crossfit bros in the background. You won’t regret it.

Update: We spoke to Catanzaro about her newfound fame.

(Thanks to SB Nation for sharing.)
