Keith Olbermann to women: 'The NFL wants your money. It will do nothing else for you'

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was suspended two games for assaulting his now-wife at a New Jersey casino earlier this offseason, a punishment that left nearly the entire sports world questioning NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s judgment.

In his segment on Thursday night, Keith Olbermann did an excellent job of expressing the outrage of many fans and sportswriters over Rice’s punishment, pointing out (as many have) that players have received longer suspensions for things like marijuana use.

But his strongest argument came when he pulled up a jersey the NFL is selling on its website. It’s a pink shimmery v-neck aimed to women, with Ray Rice’s name and jersey number on the back. What fans can take away from that, according to Olbermann: “The message to the women who the league claims constitute 50 percent of its fan base: The NFL wants your money. It will do nothing else for you.”
