It is hot inside the San Antonio Spurs AT&T Center – steamy and sauna-like – and thousands of fans are fanning themselves.

The sweltering heat has become a problem for players, LeBron James asked to come out of the game midway through the third quarter, and while out he and Chris Bosh in a time out put a bag of ice on their neck to try and cool down.

ESPN’s Doris Burke reported that it was 88 degrees near the court.

“It doesn’t affect us anymore than them,” Gregg Popovich told Burke during a sideline interview. “It’s a bad situation.”

The air conditioning is out at the AT&T Center. Before the fourth quarter, a public address announcer apologized for the malfunction, which was immediately met with boos from fans.

“An electrical failure for the power that runs the AC system in the AT&T Center has occurred. We are continuing to work on resolving the problem,” the Spurs said in a statement released during the game. “We apologize for any inconvenience.”
