CHICAGO -- DeMarcus Cousins is down, not out.

The latest USA Basketball is day to day after injuring his right knee when Anthony Davis fell on him as they dove for a loose ball near the end of a scrimmage Thursday.

Tests showed no structural damage, but USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo said even before the results that he didn't expect Cousins to play in Saturday's game against Brazil.

"I can't believe he would," Colangelo said after the workout. "Even if he's 100 percent OK, he's going to have to rest a little bit and get treatment."

The injury came in USA Basketball's first workout since Paul George broke his leg during a team scrimmage in Las Vegas a little more than a week ago. Colangelo addressed George's injury during the team meeting before the workout, and he said everyone was ready to move on. The intensity level was the same as it was before George's injury, coach Mike Krzyzewski said, adding that he was "pleasantly surprised" at how hard everyone played.

In fact, Cousins' injury occurred because both he and Davis were hustling for a loose ball near the end of a half-hour scrimmage. Cousins was helped off the court, favoring his right leg, and was taken to a trainer's table, where he spent the rest of the practice.

"I feel bad. I hope he's fine because he really wants to be here," Davis said. "We were both just hustling and I dove on his leg. So I hope he's fine."

Cousins was able to put weight on his right leg and took a few steps about a half-hour after he was hurt. He later tweeted that he was doing OK.
