Under Armour offers Kevin Durant big contract

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant has been offered a big shoe contract from Under Armour.

Under Armour has offered Oklahoma City Thunder star and NBA MVP Kevin Durant a shoe and apparel deal worth nearly $250 million for 10 years, a person familiar with the contract's terms told USA TODAY Sports.

The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about negotiations between the two sides.

ESPN first reported the deal.

Under Armour's offer also includes stock options, royalties on the sale of his product and a community recreational center.

Durant could also re-sign with Nike, which signed Durant to a seven-year deal worth nearly 70 million in 2007.

Under Armour, based in Baltimore not far from where Durant grew up, is trying to increase its presence in the basketball shoe market, and Durant is the player who could help the company do that.

Under Armour signed Golden State Warriors All-Star guard Stephen Curry last year, adding him to its roster that includes Brandon Jennings, Kemba Walker and Greivis Vasquez.
