A Delta Connection Embraer E170 jet is seen taxiing at Detroit Metro Airport on June 30, 2011. The plane belongs to Delta Connection affiliate Compass Airlines, which flies regional flights for Delta Air Lines.

Delta Air Lines is adding two Texas routes from Los Angeles as the airline continues to expand its L.A. route map.

The first comes Nov. 3, when Delta Connection carrier Compass Airlines begins four daily flights to Dallas/Fort Worth. And on April 7, Delta affiliate Compass will launch three daily flights to San Antonio. The carrier also will beef up service on its existing service between LAX and Austin, adding a third daily flight on Nov. 2.

Delta touted the trans-Pacific connections available to Texas customers flying on the new routes. "This includes service to Tokyo-Haneda; Tokyo-Narita; and Sydney, as well as partner-operated service to Brisbane, Australia; Guangzhou, China; Shanghai; and Taipei," Delta says in a release announcing the new LAX routes.

"For more than a year, we have grown our Los Angeles network into one of the largest operations at LAX and given our customers -- particularly those in the entertainment, production, automotive and growing tech startup communities -- nonstop options to destinations throughout the U.S.," Ranjan Goswami, Delta's staff vice president – Global Sales, West Region, says in a statement. "The addition of Dallas and San Antonio marks the next big intra-West milestone for Los Angeles as we continue building this key market and West Coast network for our customers."

Delta has added numerous routes from its LAX operation the past two years. Among Delta's new LAX service is an expansion of its Delta Shuttle operation, which now offers hourly service between LAX and San Francisco on a schedule modeled after Delta's East Coast Shuttle routes that connect New York LaGuardia to both Boston and Washington Reagan National.

Delta says it currently operates 140 peak-day departures to 47 destinations from LAX.
