USA TODAY reporter Trevor Hughes snapped a photo of a horse in the mist Sept. 7, as the sun hit the top of Mount Gothic in Crested Butte, Colo.

Contributor Julie Wynn was surprised to see a fireworks show on the Dillingham Street Bridge in Phenix City, Ala. "We were just in the right place at the right time."
