Apple beefs up processors, memory in Macbook Pro

Apple unveiled upgraded Macbook Pro laptop computers that will boast faster processors and twice the memory for entry-level models.

The upgrades impact models that feature the Retina Display. An entry-level 13-inch model starting at $1,299 now includes a 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of memory, and 128 GB of flash storage. The max model for $500 more includes a 2.8GHz processor and 512 GB of storage.

Meanwhile, the entry-level, 15-inch MacBook Pro includes 2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of memory and 256 GB of flash storage. It sells for $1,999.

The new models are available now.

Apple's Macbook refresh arrives as the company prepares to launch Yosemite, the latest version of its operating system. It is expected to launch this fall.
