The film version of the Tony Award-winning musical Jersey Boys opens Friday, but USA TODAY has a preview of one of the film's songs a day early.

Cry for Me will appear in the Clint Eastwood-directed film based on the music and careers of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The track features lead vocals from Erich Bergen, who plays Bob Gaudio, the writer or co-writer of such Four Seasons hits as Sherry, Big Girls Don't Cry, Walk Like a Man, Dawn (Go Away) and Rag Doll.

Gaudio, now 71, sang the song during his audition for the Four Seasons. He calls Cry for Me "a song I had forgotten I'd written — I won't forget it again!"

Cry for Me is one of the 25 tracks on Jersey Boys: Music From the Motion Picture and Broadway Musical, available June 24. On July 1, Rhino will release three additional Four Seasons-related projects:

  • Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons - The Classic Albums Box : an 18-disc set that includes the vast majority of the group's albums in mini jackets with original artwork.
  • Frankie Valli – Selected Solo Works: an eight-disc set that features many of Valli's classic solo albums in mini jackets with original artwork.
  • Audio With A G: Sounds of a Jersey Boy, The Music of Bob Gaudio: A two-disc collection of Gaudio's songs, performed by The Four Seasons and other artists.
