A letter sent from Jackie Robinson discussing the importance of breaking the color barrier sold at auction in Boston for $13,021 earlier this week.

The note, which was auctioned off by RR Auction house, is responding to a question asking what he considered to be his greatest accomplishment. He replied:

“I believe my greatest accomplishment was my ability to accept the racial abuse I did early as it was certainly not my nature to do so.”

The letter was auctioned the same week that teams around MLB honored the 67th anniversary of Robinson breaking the color barrier.
