Colts, Jaguars apologize to female reporters denied entry to locker room

On Sunday, following the Indianapolis Colts’ 16-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, three female reporters were denied entry into the locker room to talk to players so they could write about the game, or in other words do their jobs. Because they were women.

This happened in the year 2015.

Graham Watson of Yahoo! and Joey Chandler of Tuscaloosa News (who, ironically enough, were in town for an Associated Press Sports Editors diversity weekend) both tweeted about the incident, saying that they were barred by an usher who had this to offer as a reason: “you know how guys are.”

Eventually, a couple of Watson and Chandler’s male contemporaries were able to help them gain access.

Thankfully, this attendant’s unacceptable behavior doesn’t seem to be indicative of the whole – both teams’ public relations staffs apologized to Watson for the incident.
