True Blood's return: Romance authors are ready

Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Sookie (Anna Paquin) in "True Blood."

True Blood's season seven kicks off tomorrow (Sunday, June 22), and fans and authors alike are superexcited! Let's check in with authors Cecy Robson (Cursed by Destiny), MaryJanice Davidson (Undead and Unsure), Gerry Bartlett (Real Vampires Take a Bite Out of Christmas) and Cynthia Eden (Mine to Crave) to hear about their favorite True Blood characters and moments. First, my creative season recaps: Here are three words to describe each season:

Season One: Vampires, strangulation, addiction

Season Two: Makers, fellowship, Dionysus

Season Three: Shifters, visions, V-royalty

Season Four: Witches, baby, Fae

Season Five: Authority, Lilith, secrets

Season Six: Reincarnation, hybrids, HEP-V

And now we check in with our authors ...

Your favorite True Blood character?

Cynthia Eden: Eric Northman is — without any doubt — my favorite character. The guy is just so incredibly sexy, with a dark, dangerous edge. I never fully know what to expect from Eric's character, and I love that I can't predict his behavior The guy always delivers some great surprises in the show.

Cecy Robson: Sookie (said in the tone Bill would say it). Sookie is many things that I love: brave, quirky, and deliciously imperfect. This girl has messed up totally, amazingly, hideously, jaw-dropping bad. She's a hot mess in many ways if you think about it. But her heart is always … er, sometimes ... um, kinda—OK, she tries her best and does mean well. But if she were perfect, she wouldn't be Sookie and we wouldn't have so much fun watching her pull through.

MaryJanice Davidson: Aw, man, like there's even a choice? Like there's a competition? It's Eric. Obviously.

Gerry Bartlett: I absolutely love Eric. He's the bad boy who we know is wrong for us but we are always drawn to. And his sense of humor slays me. When things are the worst, he will make me laugh.

Me: Eric … Eric … Eric! He is a fantastic mix of wanting to slap him and wanting to kiss him.

Which True Blood character would be awesome in your series?

Cynthia: I would love to see Alcide in my series — I am currently writing about werewolves, and the guy would fit right in. I always enjoy it when we see more of Alcide's "beast" side. He may look all safe and human (and sexy!) most days, but he's got a wild animal inside.

Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Alcide (Joe Manganiello) on "True Blood."

Cecy: Alcide. Well, because like my werewolves: Aric, Gemini, Koda, Liam, & Bren, he's muscular, strong, loyal, and fierce. And-and-yeah, he's just a little bit attractive. Just a little bit.

Who am I kidding? The man is ridiculously good looking. So, yeah, I pick Alcide. *blushes and runs*

MaryJanice: Ack! Worlds collide! Just the thought of anyone from the TB 'verse like Sookie or Eric or Lafayette ... oooh! I've now decided Lafayette from the Sookieverse and Marc from the Betsyverse need to get together and (somehow) make clever witty babies with gorgeous dark skin and big green eyes. Science, get on this! (Or would that be, Fiction, get on this!)

Gerry: You know I'm going for Eric. He's Scandinavian, which would be a new type of character for me. He would give Glory's guys a run for their money. She would appreciate his tall good looks and he would crack her up. The fact that he's sexy would have all the women after him. Great conflict.

Me: I'm going to go with Jason Stackhouse because he is always in trouble, and at the heart of it all, so if we mix him in any series it would end up twisted and hilarious … Oh, and of course Eric would be awesome … then again he may try to eat the heroes and bite the heroines, so maybe not.

Favorite line or saying from True Blood?

Cynthia: When it comes to favorite lines, well, I have to turn to Lafayette — that guy always delivers AMAZING lines. I think the line that stuck with me the most, though, was when he told Sookie, ""You the f***ing angel of death." He definitely nailed that one!

Cecy: Sookie to Alcide when he's growling at Eric. "Alcide. Stop making that noise."

MaryJanice: It's a tie between "Screw your kisses and your hugs and your atta girls" and "There's vampire in your cleavage."

Ryan Kwanten, who plays Jason on "True Blood."

Gerry: The Authority is all about getting along with the humans, even though they are "walking meat." Love that line. Have to admit when the "True death" is administered, I have to look away. But it's pretty funny when the well-dressed vamps are spattered with vampire and they calmly wipe it away.

Me: Eric to Jason: "When you dream of me, dream nice things." Can I get some yaoi fanfic here?

Favorite snack/food/beverage you consume while watching True Blood?

Cynthia: Oh, please! ;) I can't eat or drink anything when I'm watching TB! I'm too nervous!

Cecy: Popcorn drizzled with butter, sprinkled with salt, and topped off with Raisinets — and with a glass of red wine to help squelch the cholesterol from the butter. As you can see, I've given this a lot of thought.

MaryJanice: Chocolate ice cream with a V-8 chaser. And yes. I am aware there's something wrong with me.

Gerry: Sunday night is like going to the movies for me. And I have Season Five on DVD too. So I get my popcorn and soda ready and I watch the show. It's Diet Dr Pepper for me. Must keep a clear head.

Me: Anything involving decadent, dark and delicious … chocolate!
