Something's 'Coming Soon' from Springsteen. But what?

This photo ran with the caption "Coming Soon" on Bruce Springsteen's website Wednesday.

Talk about your cryptic posts. A photo of a silhouetted man with a hatchet, wearing a backpack and apparently hacking his way through heavy brush, appeared Wednesday morning on Bruce Springsteen's official website. Two words ran with the photo: "Coming Soon."

But just what is it that's coming soon? It's way too early for a new album, since High Hopes just came out in January.

Springsteen's most recent tour wrapped May 18 in Connecticut, and there's not one thing about the photo that screams, "New dates to be announced!"

Nor does it suggest any kind of tribute to the late E Street Band saxophonist Clarence Clemons, who died three years ago today. It also doesn't appear to be a statement about Tuesday's passing of Stanley Marsh 3, the creator of the Cadillac Ranch installation that Springsteen immortalized in song on his album The River.

The singer's publicist hasn't been any help, simply saying in an email that "we'll keep you posted when we have info to share."

That means we're left with rumor, conjecture and fandom theories. And those are all over the place already. A few of our favorites follow:
