EbertFest: Stream panels from this week's film festival
Today marks the start of the Roger Ebert Film Festival, an annual event founded by the late, great movie critic. It takes place in Illinois, but this week we can all be part of the festivities by streaming them live.
Ebert's widow, Chaz Ebert, now hosts EbertFest, which spotlights recent films that deserved more recognition during their original runs. This year's lineup includes gems like Short Term 12, Wadjda and Museum Hours, though the highlight is certainly tonight's screening of Life Itself, the documentary about Ebert directed by Steve James.
Additionally, the fest will screen some classic flicks, like Born on the Fourth of July, Do the Right Thing and Capote. Oliver Stone, Spike Lee and Bennett Miller are all scheduled to participate in discussions afterward.
All post-screening Q&As and special panels will be streamed at youtube.com/Ebertfest. See the full schedule at ebertfest.com (here are the panels). Other guests include James, Patton Oswalt, Jem Cohen and Brie Larson.
EbertFest goes through April 27. If you're a fan, you can still donate to the fund to build a Roger Ebert sculpture at ebertsculpture.org.
