This is what happens when someone normal sized tries to take on the Bruins’ monster defenseman Zdeno Chara: He gets laughed at.
As a frustrating first period of play for the Red Wings came to a close, Chara got into a scuffle with Red Wings defenseman Brendan Smith
The results were more amusing than terrifying.
Trying to fight Chara, who is 6-foot-8 compared to Smith’s 6-foot-1, isn’t a particularly wise move on Smith’s part, seeing as how Chara could basically crush him with one punch. But, Smith is tenacious and not particularly interested in preserving his own well being as he keeps swatting at Chara.
Seriously, just watch Chara take a punch to the face and keep smiling. He looks like he’s being assaulted by an amusing puppy. Even though Smith shows he’s more than ready to rumble, Chara, admirably, doesn’t really rise to the bait.
Eventually, a linesman took pity on Smith and broke up the dance. Both Chara and Smith got two-minute roughing minors, but it could have been a lot worse.
