The St. Louis Rams lost Sam Bradford to a season-ending knee injury last weekend, and according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, decided to call up 44-year-old Brett Favre to see if he was interested in playing for them.
Favre wasn’t interested.
St. Louis called Brett Favre, asking if the 44-year-old QB if he would be willing to play. Favre declined. More to story on ESPN all day.

Schefter’s report, which cites an anonymous source and leads with a reference to Tim Tebow, also included comment from a source who was familiar with the Rams’ conversations and also how Twitter works.
via ESPN:
One source familiar with the Rams’ conversations said that, if Favre took them up on their interest, “it could break Twitter.”
Yes, Brett Favre playing in the NFL again would break Twitter. It would also break Brett Favre (who is a grandfather) , defy logic, and give new hope to any Packers fans hoping to see Bart Starr make a return should Aaron Rodgers ever go down with an injury.
“It’s flattering,” Favre told Andy Pollin during his interview on SportsTalk 570 today, “but there’s no way in hell I’m going to do that.”
Favre’s last NFL season was in 2010, when he played for the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings went 6-10 that season and Favre threw 11 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.
In the end, the Rams decided to go with a younger but similarly interception-prone option in Brady Quinn, who last played for the Kansas City Chiefs.
