'Ghostbusters' writer/actor Harold Ramis dies at 69

Harold Ramis, whose acting credits included Ghostbusters and Stripes, died early Monday from complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, his wife, Erica Mann Ramis, told the Chicago Tribune. He was 69.

ABC News also confirmed the death in a tweet.

Ramis was also known for his writing and directing work on blockbusters Caddyshack and Groundhog Day. Other comedy credits include National Lampoon's Animal House, National Lampoon's Vacation and Analyze This.

Before his movie career took off, Ramis was a performer and the first head writer on Second City's television series Second City Television. In recent years he directed episodes of NBC's The Office.
