NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will not attend New England Patriots opener

It is customary for the NFL commissioner to attend the opening game of the regular season and all the festivities that go with it.

But don't look for Roger Goodell next Thursday in New England when the defending Super Bowl champions host the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The NFL says Goodell will not attend the game.

The commissioner will attend a game during the opening weekend, but it is unclear which game.
