Jared Dudley traded to Wizards from Bucks

Milwaukee Bucks forward Jared Dudley (9) reaches for a rebound against Chicago Bulls forward Taj Gibson (22) in the second quarter in game four of the first round of the NBA Playoffs at BMO Harris Bradley Center.

After losing Paul Pierce to the Los Angeles Clippers in free agency, the Washington Wizards reached a deal to acquire forward Jared Dudley from the Milwaukee Bucks, two people familiar with deal told USA TODAY Sports.

They requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the deal until it official. The trade will be finalized after July 8.

The Wizards are using a trade exception from the Andre Miller trade last season to acquire Dudley and will send a future second-round pick to the Bucks.

Just before the free agency began, Dudley opted into the final year of deal with the Bucks for $4.25 million. He was a well-liked veteran in Milwaukee and a proponent of what new ownership is doing. But he was also sought after and Milwaukee believed it could part with him now the Jason Kidd has established a culture of effort.

Dudley gives the Wizards another shooter who can stretch the floor and hit three-pointers (39.6% for his career from that range) and is a good locker room guy.
