The Smurfs shall ride again. Perhaps headless.
On the heels of its sequel The Smurfs 2, Sony Pictures will announce Tuesday a DVD "mini-movie," The Smurfs: The Legend of Smurfy Hollow.
The movie, an animated take on the Washington Irving short story, will feature the voices of Alan Cumming, Fred Armisen Anton Yelchin and Hank Azaria.
The first film was an international juggernaut, doing $563 million worldwide in 2011.
The studio also will announce the DVD re-release of 2011's The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol, which, like Hollow, runs 22 minutes and is rated G.
